Today, our school enjoyed a whole-school enrichment experience made possible by the PTSA. Brett “OOCH” Outchcunis presented his high-energy program, Positive Spin, which focused on the importance of staying positive and persevering when challenges arise. Students learned how attitude matters and how we can “spin” situations in a positive way. The presentation was packed with impressive yo-yo tricks, humor, music, and lots of movement and dancing—keeping everyone engaged and smiling throughout! #DT2030 #EIS #WeAreDR

Mrs. Gridley’s fourth graders are learning what it means to be true scholars—by practicing perseverance! 💪 Students worked together to try flipping a tablecloth from one side to the other without their feet touching the floor. While they didn’t quite succeed this time, they collaborated, listened to one another, helped each other, laughed, and persevered through a tough challenge. These moments build essential life skills and teach our students to embrace challenges with a positive mindset! Way to go! #EIS #DT2030 #WeAreDR

Happy Holidays

I graduated from Dighton-Rehoboth Regional High School in 1965 and went on to Northeastern University, earning a B.A. in Liberal Arts as a math major while playing four years on the men’s basketball team. In 1970, I married my high school sweetheart, Elizabeth Hopkins, and soon after began my career in education. I taught mathematics and coached freshmen basketball at Somerset High School from 1970 to 1973.

In 1973, Superintendent Joseph C. Harrington hired me to return to DRRHS as a math teacher and boys’ basketball coach. I spent the next 24 years on the sidelines, and in 1990, I was honored to serve as President of the Massachusetts Basketball Coaches’ Association. I also completed my Master of Education in School Administration from Bridgewater State University in 1984 and served as Mathematics Department Head from 1991 to 1995.

From 1997 to 2002, I served as Assistant Principal at DRRHS before accepting the position of Athletic Director at Martha’s Vineyard Regional High School, where I worked until my retirement in 2006. Along the way, I also served in the United States Army Reserves from 1970 to 1976.

Liz and I raised two children who make us incredibly proud: Erika (DRRHS 1995, Duke University 1999) and Steven (DRRHS 2002, Western New England University 2006). Our greatest joy now comes from our four grandchildren—Benjamin, Emerson, Matthew, and Annie—who fill our lives with energy and laughter.

In retirement, I enjoy golf, fishing, and staying connected to the community. In 2025, I was proud to return once more to DRRHS as a member of the branding committee for the high school’s new visual identity.

Looking back, I am grateful for a career centered on education, athletics, and service—and for the family and community that have supported me throughout the journey.

This morning, our second graders boarded their very own version of The Polar Express for a truly unforgettable experience. Mrs. Mello, our conductor, led an engaging and interactive read-aloud of the classic story by Chris Van Allsburg, while Mrs. Grant had students singing along to a boisterous rendition of the “Hot Chocolate” song. What a joyful memory and a cherished tradition—full of wonder, music, and holiday magic—here at PRES! #EIS #WeAreDR #DrivingTowards2030

🇺🇸✨ A Morning of Honor & Pride ✨🇺🇸 This morning, four PRES students proudly shared their original writing at National Wreaths Across America Day, held at the Rehoboth Village Cemetery and Redway Plain. Our third graders read heartfelt poems, and our fourth graders shared powerful essays reflecting on what makes veterans true heroes. Thank you to Jaime Papineau and Poppy’s crew for including us in this moving tribute. It was truly an honor to be part of such a meaningful day of remembrance and gratitude. ❤️🤍💙 #WeAreDR #DT2030 #EIS

A huge thank you to our incredible PTSA for another magical Gingerbread Shoppe! Each year, our amazing PTSA and parent volunteers transform this tradition into something truly special. They guide our students as they thoughtfully choose little gifts and trinkets to show appreciation for the people they love—and the joy on our students’ faces says it all. We are so grateful for the time, care, and heart that goes into making this event happen year after year, creating memories our students will cherish. Thank you, PTSA, for filling our school with kindness, generosity, and cheer! #WeAreDR
