Today, we unveiled a new food pantry created to support Dighton-Rehoboth families with respect, dignity, and care, because our schools are about more than educating students. They’re about supporting the communities we serve.
Superintendent Bill Runey shared that if we are serious about igniting curiosity, shaping the future, and empowering students, we also have to recognize that students do their best when they are also supported at home. A day without school should not have to be a day without food.
This vision became action today, thanks to an incredible group of community partners: Sterling Container Sales & Rentals, Whitsons Culinary Group, Hannaford, Blounts Fine Foods, and Signs by Tomorrow. A special connection makes this effort even more meaningful: Sterling Container Sales owner Lindsay Bates is a Dighton-Rehoboth graduate, bringing this gift back home to the community that helped shape her.
We’re grateful to our supporters, school leaders, and legislative officials who joined us for today’s ribbon cutting - and especially to Administrative Assistant to the Superintendent, Michele Blackburn, for bringing all the pieces together.
We Are DR. And this is one more way we’re living that promise. 💚💛

Dighton Middle School sixth graders have been busy conducting labs, completing lab reports, and learning how to be scientists. Today, students were busy wrapping up their lab reports. During their lab, students were given a mixture of materials. They then had to separate the materials to determine their mass and density. #WeAreAllFalcons #WeAreDR #DT2030 #EIS
Yesterday, our DMS soccer team hosted their home opener. Despite a valiant effort, Dighton Middle School lost against a strong Freetown-Lakeville team. Wish us luck and come cheer us on as we face Rehoboth for a home game today. #WeAreAllFalcons #DT2030 #EIS #WeAreDR
After D-R, Eliana attended St. Thomas Aquinas College, earning her B.S. in Mathematics with a concentration in Actuarial Science and a minor in Economics. She graduated summa cum laude in just three years while also excelling as a collegiate softball player. She continued her education and softball career at UMass Amherst, where she earned her master’s degree.
Looking Back…
“The most impactful part of my time at Dighton-Rehoboth was Coach Madsen. She served as a role model and mentor that was a constant force of encouragement and wisdom. In terms of classes, D-R offered me the ability to take a rigorous course load, including enrolling in a virtual high school class, which through testing allowed me to enter college having already earned 33 credits, giving me the opportunity to graduate with my bachelors degree a year early.”
Advice to a D-R Student…
“My advice to current D-R students would be to take advantage of every opportunity you have and to get involved. It helps you to become more well-rounded and teaches you how to work and interact with a group of people that you may not have thought to before. You learn how to manage your time better, a skill that will be a great benefit in the future, and most importantly allows you to have fun and do something that you are interested in outside of academics.”
Eliana’s internships—including working in player development with the Wareham Gatemen of the Cape Cod League—helped her discover her passion for working in sports and ultimately helped lead her to her dream career in Major League Baseball.

Today, we came together for our 2026 Districtwide Convocation, and the energy was high!
- The Marching Band and Color Guard students kicked us off in true Falcon fashion.
- We celebrated the strength of our unified, PreK–12+ community.
- Superintendent Bill Runey challenged us to embrace what makes us strong, rethink what may need to shift, and continue to ignite, empower, and shape a district where everyone belongs.
We’re energized, we’re united, and we’re ready to get to work. Let’s make it a great year!

Yesterday, we had the joy of welcoming the newest members of the DMS Falcon Family! It was wonderful to see so many new faces and have the opportunity to begin building connections with our students and families.
Thank you to everyone who joined us for New Student Orientation. We hope the evening helped you feel welcomed, connected, and excited for the school year ahead. We’re looking forward to getting to know each of our new Falcons and partnering with families throughout the year.
I would also like to take a moment to extend a few special thank-yous to those who helped make last night’s New Student Orientation such a welcoming and successful evening.
A heartfelt thank you to the Dighton PTO for supporting our new families by assisting with lockers and tours and treating our students to a special popsicle treat. Your partnership and support mean so much to our DMS community!
Thank you to Haley from Champions for joining us and sharing information with families about before- and after-school care options. We appreciate you helping our families feel informed and supported as they prepare for the school year.
Finally, a big thank you to all of our DMS staff members who gave their time to join us last night. Your enthusiasm, welcoming smiles, and willingness to help made a tremendous difference. It truly takes a team, and I am grateful for everyone who helped make our newest Falcons and their families feel at home.
