After D-R, Eliana attended St. Thomas Aquinas College, earning her B.S. in Mathematics with a concentration in Actuarial Science and a minor in Economics. She graduated summa cum laude in just three years while also excelling as a collegiate softball player. She continued her education and softball career at UMass Amherst, where she earned her master’s degree.
Looking Back…
“The most impactful part of my time at Dighton-Rehoboth was Coach Madsen. She served as a role model and mentor that was a constant force of encouragement and wisdom. In terms of classes, D-R offered me the ability to take a rigorous course load, including enrolling in a virtual high school class, which through testing allowed me to enter college having already earned 33 credits, giving me the opportunity to graduate with my bachelors degree a year early.”
Advice to a D-R Student…
“My advice to current D-R students would be to take advantage of every opportunity you have and to get involved. It helps you to become more well-rounded and teaches you how to work and interact with a group of people that you may not have thought to before. You learn how to manage your time better, a skill that will be a great benefit in the future, and most importantly allows you to have fun and do something that you are interested in outside of academics.”
Eliana’s internships—including working in player development with the Wareham Gatemen of the Cape Cod League—helped her discover her passion for working in sports and ultimately helped lead her to her dream career in Major League Baseball.

Mrs. Fernandes does just that! When her students are absolutely rocking their learning, they get to take a “rock break,” so to speak. 🎸🎶
Mrs. Lima even joined in on the fun and put in a song request!
We love seeing our Falcons working hard, having fun, and finding joyful ways to celebrate learning at DES! 🦅💚💛

The school year kicked off with amazing energy, excitement, and plenty of smiles! Students were warmly welcomed by our DES staff, Superintendent Runey, IT Director Lauren Harwood, Special Education Director Dr. DiGioia, members of the Dighton Fire and Police Departments, and, of course, Oakie!
The beautiful weather made the day even better. From fun at recess, to singing in music class, to making worry stones in Mrs. Carter’s class, it was a fun-filled day all around. Students also enjoyed reconnecting with friends, meeting new classmates, and settling into classroom routines and expectations.
The energy throughout the building was contagious, and we could not have asked for a better start to the school year! 💚💛
Our newest Falcons had the chance to visit their classrooms, meet their teachers, and get to know some of the new friends who will be in their class this year.
A special thank you to the Dighton PTO for providing each student with a book and a delicious Kona Ice treat, and to Jenn from Bloom Bus for helping our students learn and practice important bus safety routines.
It was a wonderful morning filled with smiles, excitement, and lots of happy little Falcons. We cannot wait to officially welcome our Kindergarten students tomorrow! 🦅💚💛

ONE DR district. ONE Falcon family. ONE incredible year ahead!
Today, we came together for our 2026 Districtwide Convocation, and the energy was high!
- The Marching Band and Color Guard students kicked us off in true Falcon fashion.
- We celebrated the strength of our unified, PreK–12+ community.
- Superintendent Bill Runey challenged us to embrace what makes us strong, rethink what may need to shift, and continue to ignite, empower, and shape a district where everyone belongs.
We’re energized, we’re united, and we’re ready to get to work. Let’s make it a great year!
