Illness and Home Health Assessment

To minimize the spread of contagious illness, including Covid-19, it is advised that your child remain home if they experience any symptoms of illness. Our collective health relies, in part, on individual attention and responsibility. Note that some signs of COVID-19 are the same as the flu or a bad cold; please do not assume it is another condition. When in doubt, stay home.

If your child will not be attending school for any other reason (medical appointment, injury, family concern, etc.), please call and leave a message on the absence line.  You can do this by contacting your schools’ main line and pressing the “absent line” option to leave a message.

What Happens if my Child Develops Symptoms at School?

If your child is at school and should develop symptoms as the day progresses, the nurse will be called to make an assessment.  If your child is presenting with Covid-19 like symptoms, your child will be transferred to a designated medical waiting room.  Your child will be monitored by the nurse and a trained staff member.  According to the protocol, your child will be provided with a disposable surgical mask to wear, and the staff member will gown in appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).  The nurse will contact the guardian to dismiss the student and review the return to school protocol.  Please ensure that your emergency contact information is up-to-date.
